Learn to Cheer   3-4 year olds

KAS Learn to Cheer class is a great introduction to cheerleading.  Athletes learn the basics of cheerleading including: movement, balance, dance, jumps and pom.  The focus of this program is movement, coordination and following directions. Athletes are 3-4 years of age. There are no pre-requisite skill requirements.   This year we will offer one 10-week session in the Fall.  Athletes will perform in the KAS PreSeason Showcase Friday November 29.

Day and Times: Sun 9:15-9:45           Cost: $125

All Star Prep    Mini 5 - 6 years 

The All Star Prep team is an introductory cheer program geared towards athletes 5-6 years of age.  This is a 12-week session that will focus on core strength, body awareness, fundamental cheerleading skills and working in a team environment.  The All Star Prep (ASP) team is a recreational cheer program. Athletes will learn motions, dance, pom work, as well as an introduction to stunting, jumps and tumbling.  Athletes will perform skills in a shorter routine format.  This team will perform at the KAS PreSeason Showcase in November 29, 2019

Day and Times: Wednesday 6:30-7:15pm   

Location: Beaver Brae Main Gym

All Star Prep   Youth 7 - 11 years

This All Star Prep team is an introductory cheer program geared towards athletes 7-11 years of age.  This is a Sept to March session that will focus on core strength, body awareness, fundamental cheerleading skills and working in a team environment.  The All Star Prep (ASP) team is an extension of recreational cheerleading and an introduction to competitive cheerleading. Athletes will focus on skill development and performance of skills in a competitive routine format.  This team will perform at the KAS PreSeason Showcase in November 29, 2019  This team will compete in Thunder Bay on March 8.

If you are 5-14 years of age (as of August 31) and you are interested in competitive cheerleading, please register online for TEAM PLACEMENT.  Athletes will attend PLACEMENT PRACTICES on Sun Sept 8 from 9:00-11:00am at the Facility and Wed Sept 11 from 7:15-8:00pm at Beaver Brae.

This is a committed group of athletes with varying levels of experience. These athletes will learn a variety of stunts,  focused on the execution of basic cheerleading skills. They can work individually and in groups to perform dance, jumps, stunting technique and tumbling including walkovers and handsprings. These teams are competitive and requires commitment to team practices. 

Tumbling Goals: Cartwheels, Front and Back Walkovers, Back Handsprings

Destiny and Fusion

Competitive 5-14 years of age (Aug 31, 2019)

2 Competitions (Minneapolis and Thunder Bay)

Days and Times:  

Wed 7:15-8:00pm

Thursday TBD OR Sunday 10:00-11:00am

Tumbling Sundays 9:00-10:00am (Dec to April)

Team Try Outs   10 - 18 years                    

NEW Team Try Out format this year! 

If you are 10-18 years of age (as of August 31) and you have experience in competitive cheer, gymnastics, dance or figuring skating, please register online for TEAM TRY OUT.  Athletes will attend Team Try Outs on Tues Sept 3, Tues Sept 10, and Thurs Sept 12 from 6:30-8:30pm at the Facility.

Building Level 2 and/or 3 skills.  Standing and Running back handspring recommended.  Air positions fir Flyers. *If it is determined that the athlete's skills are not ready for this level, athletes will be placed on one of our other two competitive teams.

The advanced competitive program is geared towards elite level athletes with experience in competitive cheerleading. Bases need to demonstrate a variety of grips in stunting at prep and extended level and flyers require extended body positions.  Athletes will demonstrate standing/running Tumbling or exceptional stunting skills and a strong commitment to team practices. These are Rep teams that will train, travel and compete at provincial, national and international events.  

Tumbling Goals: back handspring, round off back handspring, series back handspring, front punch, aerials, R-off tuck, R-off BHS combinations ending in a tuck. Athletes will be working towards layouts and layout fulls.  

 

Eclipse and Infinity Elite

10-18 years of age (Aug 31, 2019)

3 Competitions (Minneapolis, Thunder Bay

and Air Travel competition TBD)

Days and Times:  

Tues 6:15-9:00pm  

Thurs 6:15-9:00pm

Sunday 11:00am-12:00 every other week

Cost  $140/month plus travel and competition fees

The Beaver Brae/KPDSB competitive cheer program is supported by KAS coaches and a Beaver Brae Staff Advisor/Coach. Athletes in grades 7-12 will train together to perform at NorWOSSA Half Time performances and Pep Rallies. Athletes must be a registered student at Beaver Brae.

The Bronco Cheerleaders have a long standing tradition of Excellence. They have placed in the top 5 at National level competition consistently for the last 10 years. They are the 2013 National Small All Girl Champions and 2017 World Bronze medalists.  They are winners of a Silver Nations Cup from the International Cheer Union in 2017.  Broncos have earned back to back to back Bids to the 2017, 2018 and 2019 World High School Cheerleading Championships in Orlando, Florida. Go Broncos!
